I run Alexander courses and workshops at my own practice in Portobello and at other venues in Edinburgh. These events will provide some useful tips and tools to help you in your daily life, and will give you enough insight into the Alexander Technique to decide if you would like to take it further by embarking on some one-to-one lessons.
These introductory sessions are for people who are new to the Alexander Technique − the next workshop is:
- Discover the Alexander Technique on Sunday 5th May 2019 (10am−1pm; £35; Joppa Road, Portobello)
Find out how the Alexander Technique, a practical embodying method, can enable you to look after yourself better in daily life – for poise, freedom in movement, reducing back and neck pain, coping with stress and becoming more effective.
Workshops are suitable for people of all ages and levels of health/fitness. Places are limited to a maximum of 6 people so booking essential. Please contact me to reserve a place, or for further details. Concessions available for unwaged.
- 4-week follow-on course: started Tuesday 26th February 2019 (7pm−8.30pm; £80; Joppa Road, Portobello).
This course is for people who have some prior experience of the Alexander Technique, either through attending a group introductory class, through lessons, or just a taster session. It will be very practically based and will allow you to deepen your understanding and have more confidence in applying the Alexander Technique to make a difference in your life. Places limited to a maximum of 6 people – one space left so come and join us for the rest of the course (£20/class).
- Intensive 12-week Foundation course
Many people who have benefited from Alexander Technique lessons would like to take it further and deepen their Alexander understanding, skills and confidence. Edinburgh Alexander Training School offers a Foundation course that provides an ideal opportunity for such self-development. There are many diverse reasons why you might wish to join the Foundation course: from a desire to enhance performance in music, sport or business; or for developing a greater sense of embodiment and making some fundamental changes in life attitudes and ways of thinking; or simply to find greater ease and enjoyment in going about everyday life.
- Mindful Movement: contact me to be put on the waiting list for the next course
Current lifestyles often force us into a combined state of physical immobility and over-stimulated minds. You will be guided through a sequence of gentle, subtle, floor-based movements that will develop week by week. The course is based on the Dart procedures and is informed by the Alexander Technique. It will help quieten minds and encourage flexibility and ease of movement, leading to a sense of calm, embodied self-awareness.
If you are interested in future courses, please contact me, stating which course you are interested in and if you have a preference for daytime or evening (all courses take place on a weekday). Concessions available for unwaged.
